This is probably one of the most famous commercials ever aired. It’s a beautiful sentiment that played well to the feelings of the public at the time. That doesn’t at all date it though. It’s a timeless commercial that people of every generation should enjoy. So have a Coke and smile!

You’ve said it all….
Too bad they don’t say it all anymore. This was great commercial. I can remember seeing when I was a kid and singing along. This really tried to appeal to everyone too. I think it worked.

I actually had the whole first set of these myself, including the Enterprise playset. Instead of keeping them as souvenirs, I did what you were supposed to do with toys. I played with them until they fell apart. I think I was much happier child because of it.

I’m not really sure if Alpha Bits is around anymore. I remember this and other commercials for the cereal well though.

This of course reminds me of the scene from “Family Guy” where Peter says he has a message in his Alpha Bits that says “OOOOO”. Brian then reminds him he’s eating Cheerios…..Classic.

I have a Volkswagen. While I don’t plan to buy another anytime soon, this one is pretty convincing, or at least it was…

This commercial worked it’s magic so well on me that I made my mom buy me almost the complete set for my birthday. We lived near a department store (similar to K-Mart or Target) called “Treasury”. It was so cool. They had a whole isle of Star Wars toys. [...]

This certainly is the one that started it all, started my fascination with TV commercials that is. I couldn’t have been more than six or seven, but I remember the adult women around me making fun of the poor man who ran the laundry.
